Sledding

Wednesday was a snow day for kids and teachers (it only snowed about 6 in.!), so we made the most of it and went sledding in my grandparents backyard. Not only did they make us a hot lunch for when we finished, but they took all the pictures for us!

Connor was a real trooper-he stayed out the whole time with us and wanted to keep going down.

I did a little snowboarding! Hayden tried it too and stayed standing the whole way down the hill! Joel and Dave Christensen would be so proud!

Anyone for home-made pot pie? (That's a Penn. Dutch dish.) I want to start a scrapbook of my favorite recipes that have been passed down for generations.

Hide and Seek

Daddy was at college tonight so the boys and I played hide and seek. Connor didn't understand enough to hide by himself, but he loved going with Hayden or I to find the other. As soon as we found him/her, he would squeal with delight and go to do it again. It's a lot of fun when we can find games to play together. I love that Connor understands so much of what we say. Our local PBS station just started airing "Signing Time," a show for kids to learn simple sign language. Connor knew some of them already, but he learned words like sleep, want, and milk. Hayden found it interesting too. I think it would be neat to speak in sign language.

Busy Sunday

Sunday was a busy day. Hayden gave his first talk in Primary. He spoke about Jesus walking on the water, Peter's faith and how he can have faith in his prayers and even in planting a garden.
Connor also turned 18 months on Saturday. So he went to nursery for the first time on Sunday. Mike stayed with him for the first half-hour, then set him free. We didn't hear from the leaders for the rest of church. Turned out he fell asleep in Sandi Sechrist's arms.
How does she do it!!!
We also celebrated my Mom's birthday on Sunday evening. This was when I gave her THE scrapbook I have been working on and off with for two years. It is titled "57 Reasons Why I love You," because she turns 57 this year. It includes pictures from when I was little as well as pictures of our family now. This was the result.
I also surprised her with her favorite candy that she hasn't had in about 30 or so years...mint juleps. She had no idea you can still get them through the internet.
