Salad Dressing recipe
Some of my friends requested this recipe that I simply titled "Yummy Salad Dressing," but it's kind of like a honey mustard style. It's meant to be mixed with baby spinach, sugared almonds, apples, and cranberries, but honestly it tastes good in any salad.
Mix in blender: 1/3 C vinegar
3/4 C canola oil
1/3 C sugar
Add to blender: 3/4 Tbsp. poppy seeds
3/4 tsp. salt
1/4 C finely chopped onion
2 Tbsp. mustard
Connor's Day
Today was the first day of Mike's actual summer vacation-no college classes, no tutoring, no appointments.
We spent the morning shopping for Hayden's birthday, this afternoon we are spending at home getting things done. Mike is moving boxes from the attic down to the basement to make way for the boys new room. We're excited to clean up the walls and paint. We think it will be a great room for them. They'll have the biggest room in the house too.
I'm spending the afternoon on the computer catching up on my blog and updating pictures to scrapbook.
Connor has been doing other things. We put him down for a nap after lunch and like other days, he stayed up talking for a while. After about 45 mins. though, he started crying. Mike and I went in to check on him, and this is what we saw!
Apparently he had gotten under his blanket and couldn't get out of it! It was so sad, but so funny! We let him stay up for a little while after his tramatizing event. Mike and I were looking on the computer and the boys were downstairs. All of a sudden Hayden yelled for us to come down. Connor had gotten into my lip gloss. It wasn't a terrible mess, it was just funny. I was impressed he knew to put the lip gloss on his lips!
It was a summertime day
After church on Sundays, we usually get together with Gram and Pap, alternating homes. Yesterday we went over to their house, and I got in the mood to take lots of "summertime" pictures. This is one of Hayden's pumpkins that he planted and that he hopes to enter into the York Fair.
After dinner we had ice cream, popsicles, and watermelon for dessert. Doesn't that ice cream look yummy! Connor got messier last night than he did for his first birthday cake!
Hayden and I had a watermelon contest! (Not really, we just posed.)
When it started to get dark, the boys started looking for fireflies. They were having so much fun, I got a lot of cute pictures.
Just before we were about to leave, it started pouring down raining. For those of you who live in York, you know what I mean. We ended up staying for another hour till it slowed down and when we came home, we had several detours because of flooded roads. The Fairgrounds were even flooded and we've never seen that before.
While we were waiting, Hayden drew a picture of Gram and Pap's house. He drew the back porch with table and chairs, ceiling fans and blinds included, fireflies, and the lighting in the sky. He doesn't miss a detail!
Busy Saturday
We went over to the Coys around lunchtime for Ewan's first birthday party. There were lots of kids there to celebrate with him, along with their parents. I couldn't believe we got all the kids on the bean bag sofa to get a picture. (Ewan is in the front with the #1 t-shirt on.)
After the party we met my parents at Project 70 to go out on the boat for the afternoon. It looked a little cloudy when we got in the water, so Pap decided we should head over to the bridge just in case it rained. That is Hayden's favorite place to fish anyway. Well, we ended up staying under the bridge for at least an hour and a half. We survived a huge thunderstorm! You probably can't see from the picture, but it was pouring! The radio said some areas even got winds as high as 50 miles per hour. Boy, were we lucky!
Connor liked driving.
Mini-golf
On Fri. night (after it rained) we went miniature golfing with Gram and Pap in Columbia. It was Connor's first time and he really got into it. Hayden loves to golf and does really well. Hopefully he won't turn that into real golf-we can't afford that!
Connor was getting excited running around, and on one of the holes, there were hills as obstacles. Apparently he didn't notice them and went flying over the first hill! He wasn't hurt so we were all able to laugh about it. I wished I would have had video of it!
"Look what my shorts can do"
I was upstairs in the boy's room getting Connor dressed for the day while Hayden was getting himself dressed. He said, "Mom, look what my shorts can do!", and proceeded to show me how they unsnapped on the insides. I thought that was weird, and that they didn't look quite right, but it still took me a few minutes to look at the tag in the back and figure out that they were Connor's 18 month pants!!!! I think I couldn't believe that Hayden could still fit into them. I guess we do have skinny boys.
Hayden is on the run in this picture because he didn't want me to take it. Why, it's just a little embarrassing!
Baby Movement
This past Tues., July 24th (Pioneer Day!), Mike and I officially felt the baby move from outside my belly! I am 19 weeks right now. I had felt little twitches before that but I could never say for sure if it was the baby or my bowels. Now I can feel the little munchkin twisting and turning. This is one of the coolest parts of pregnancy-one of the things that makes pregnancy all worth it. Otherwise, I'd make Mike do it!
