This past week
Last Tues. there was a carnival at Sunset Park. As part of Hayden's summer park program, they gave the kids a chance to earn money by having a game. They provided the prizes, you provide the game and someone to man the booth for three hours, then you split the profits. Hayden decided we should do the Clothes-Pin Drop. Daddy made the poster (Hayden helped), and Mommy maned the booth. We ended up making over $25 dollars which isn't bad considering we didn't put any money into it!
The fire department was there giving rides to kids on the ladder. Hayden liked it so much he went up twice.
He also liked the shark slide. I thought that looked cool too. At the end of the night they had a fireworks display that we thought was very good. Connor kept saying "ooh-wow!"
Thursday morning I went over to my Mom's house so we could make tons of zucchini bread. We try to do this once each summer to try and use up Dad's zucchini that he has harvested. Then we freeze the bread and hope it lasts a while! I made a few (more healthy) adjustments to the recipe this year and they turned out great. Even my mom liked it.
(I don't really look very pregnant in this picture, but I sure feel it!)
After baking all morning, I met Mike and the boys at the pool for the afternoon. They told me about how they got interviewed by WGAL 8 News about the pool. It was on the 6 o'clock news Thurs. night. They were on for about 10 secs. The boys were excited to see themselves on T.V.
Mike took Connor down the slide for the first time today. He loved it! He ended up taking him down about ten times!
These are some pictures of Hayden and his friends that he made at park. He loved going and was sad that the last day was on Fri. It ran for 6 weeks, but somehow time seems to go by quicker in summer. On Fri. they had a pizza party and awards program for the kids. Each child got a certificate. Hayden's was "being a leader." Daddy and I were excited about that.
I was really pleased with the program. They did lots of different things like pinatas, water day and craft day once a week, a parade, roller skating, and lots of different games. He also made lots of friends which I'm always excited about. Not to mention he got a really great tan!
