Happy Fourth of July

The fourth of July is one of my favorite holidays so I'm always glad when the day has been good. Although the weather for the fireworks at the fairgrounds was horrible, the display was still enjoyable. We always go to my parents house during the day where all the family gathers for lots of good food and conversation. The kids play on their own most of the time which gives us parents a nice break. Since my parents just increased the size of their patio, we weren't even bothered by the rain. In fact, this has been one of the coolest 4th of July's that we can remember. I could even wear my hair down! Connor needed a snack to warm up. He loves raisins! My dad is such a goofball. He fries a turkey every year and let me tell you, there is not much left. It is so good. If you've never tried it, you've got to! In the early evening we head over to our house to host front seats for the fireworks display. We didn't have as big a turn out this year because of the weather, but we still had fun.
I'm so grateful to all the men and women who have served our country in the past and who are currently risking their lives for our freedom. I'd have a hard time if Mike were enlisted, which makes me even more grateful for those families that are torn apart. I love our flag and our country.

I'm so sorry we weren't able to make it to the fireworks. :(

Oh sure Conner likes raisins.... that looks more like Elmo's food. Trying to pull a quick one on us. heheheeheheheheheheeeeee I'd love to try some of that turkey. I've heard lots of people say how delicious it is. Maybe sometime I'll give it a whirl.
